Sustainable Livelihoods

In response to climatic and conflict dynamics affecting livelihoods of vulnerable communities in Somalia/Somaliland, SAHAN ESF is dedicated to implementing sustainable livelihood initiatives aimed at empowering individuals, households, and communities to break the cycle of poverty and achieve long-term resilience.

Adaptation to climate change and resilience

SAHAN ESF has unmatched technical expertise that combine climate forecasting, disaster preparedness and resilience-building to strengthening the capacity of communities and systems to anticipate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from the impacts of climate change. Under this key strategic pillar, we implement activities aimed at minimizing vulnerability to climate change and building resilience to its effects

Productive WASH

Water and related hygiene, sanitation and utilization practices play a critical role in making communities resilient to climatic shocks and other crises affecting communities. SAHAN promotes multi-purpose access to clean and safe water for communities prone to droughts and flooding.

Community Health and Nutrition

SAHAN ESF maintains strong working relationships with partners providing primary health and nutrition services in the areas of operation. Our focus remains community health and nutrition, where we complement the work of other partners by promoting awareness and safely referring communities to existing services. These efforts involve various strategies and interventions designed to improve health outcomes and prevent diseases by addressing factors such as access to healthcare, nutritious food, safe water, sanitation, hygiene, education, and socioeconomic conditions.
